On 5 June 2011, the general elections were held in Macedonia. The ruling party won again and the celebration was held that night around the central square in Skopje. During the celebration, a 22 years young man was killed by a police officer. That was the reason for massive protest of young people in Skopje and in many towns through the country that lasted almost a month every day.
During the protests a modified national flag was waved - same as the current flag, but instead a golden disc, a golden Twitter Bird appears in the center of the flag.
